Letter : to Colonel Kane / by Brigham Young, 1858 Oct 22.

Brigham Young's letter to Colonel Kane gives the details of the military and political abuses which exist in Utah, and scathingly criticizes the Post Office Department for cancelling Hiram Kimball's mail contract. Young also criticizes President Buchanan's administration.

President James Buchanan appointed Alfred Cumming as the second territorial governor of Utah. Col. Albert Sidney Johnson and his troops escorted Governor Cumming to Utah.
